Summertime and the Living is Easy

Post some comments below about what you'd like to see us do this summer! Camping? Fishing? Hiking? Retreat? Parks? How do you want to spend some of your summertime?

Camp Alfresco

Do you miss the good old days spent around the campfire? Making fun of the counselors? Carepackages from home and not letting mom and dad you really don't miss them that much?

Those good old days are back! The Diocese of Virginia now offers a camp for Young Adults. Camp Alfresco is for folks in their 20s and 30s, and will be held from May 29th (evening arrival) through June 2nd (10am departure). The camp spends the majority of the time on the Shenandoah River, paddling, swimming, and philosophizing their way downstream.

Last year was the first year the camp was offered, and it was a huge success for everyone involved.

Brochures and registration information should be available soon through your church office and on the diocesan website. I'll send out a link as soon as I have it.

Trivium Bare Bible Study

We're laying it all on the table for the world to see. Join us in a fresh look into our Christian scriptures. This ain't your momma's Sunday School class. Where we go and what we study is up to the group.

Next Meeting: Thursday May 15th, 8-9:30 pm at Cosi, 3505 Fairfax Dr. (Virginia Square). St. George's Episcopal Church on N. Oakland has offered their parking lot to us!

Topic: Pentecost. Take a look at Acts 2:1-11. Think about the Holy Spirit. What is it to you? How does it speak to you? Does it? How do you feel it guiding you? Have there been times when you've felt its absence?

St. Mary's Sisters in Spirituality

The first Tuesday of every month St. Mary's hosts Sisters in Spirituality, a group for women in their 20s and 30s that explores scripture and spirituality from a women's perspective. For more information, please contact Elizabeth Marie at St. Mary's: elizabeth.marie@stmarysarlington.org or 703-527-6800.

Next Gathering: Tuesday May 6th 7-9pm. Begin at Elizabeth Marie's house (4728 26th Street N. Directly across from St. Mary's) at 7pm for fellowship and prayer. Then we will head over to the Paca Hall at 7:30 for the one-man performance of "Paul," a play about the life of the Apostle Paul performed by Virginia Theological Seminarian George Roberts.

Trivium After Work

Kick back, relax, and let the stress roll off ya'

Join us once a month as we gather at the end of the work day to unwind and let go. The fourth Thursday of every month we meet at a different watering hole for libations and food. Here's where you can find us in the coming months:

May 22nd: Clarendon Grill at 1101 N. Highland
June 26th: El Paso Cafe at 4235 N. Pershing Dr. (near Glebe and Pershing just before Glebe and 50)

We'd like to pick a couple of spots to be our "regulars" to make it easier for you to find us. Feel free to post your favorite spots or let us know places you didn't care for here!

What's in a name?

Why "Trivium"?

Trivium is the combination of ter and via in Latin and describes where three roads meet. As "young adults" we are feeling our way into the rest of our lives and learning to balance our personal, profession, and spiritual lives. Our hope is that Trivium will be a place where each avenue is explored individually and where we learn to see the ways they interconnect.

Welcome to our crossroads. We hope you join us for any or all of our events and use this blog as a means of keeping in touch with one another.

Start Your Own Group!

Do you have an interest in jogging, biking, knitting, books, or starting a Bible study? This is the place to start a group to do that. Send me a post with information about your idea for a group and I'll add it to the blog. I can help you with ideas for when and where to meet or how to get started.
